George Norman Fyhrie: 1926 – 2010
This is a special tribute to one of our authors and my father George Fyhrie. My father passed away November 15th, 2010 and in his honor, our family will complete the sequel to his book “Mountain Adventure.”
Dad was a Civil Engineer for many years with Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA, and quite a storyteller. Coming from writer and storyteller stock, he never failed to captivate his children with adventures through moaning caves and ruby mines.
He began his storytelling as a way to make our lives on the Azores Island of Terceria feel more like home, and it did. It spurred us to explore the many cow trails and water caves of the island – turning us into storytellers as well. His mother, Violet Geneva Bacon Fyhrie Zimmerman, wrote poetry her entire life and along the same lines we will be publishing her poetry as part of our Family Legacy.
I profoundly appreciate the condolences and prayers from our reader community and I hope I can make my Dad proud one more time, by completing his work as he would like.
Thank you — Suzanne Fyhrie Parrott

Suzanne I appreciate the wonderful world you came from, and the touching stories from a father. I have those same wonderful memories with mine, and your determination to finish his book is outstanding, and yes – just what your father would love to see – and he will know.
I can understand the love you have for your Father, because you are just like him. The short time we have talked together brings out a fun and loving spirit, a generous human being – and you followed in your Father’s footsteps.
May each day bring back happy memories and my your love sparkle as you write each thought, each detail while finishing up his book.
Love you, Nancy
