With a background in engineering, Wood has been writing since October 1998. Now, with over a 170 short stories, and four novels under his belt, Wood gleaned from fragments of stories he had “bobbing around in [his] head” since he was a teenager.
His hesitance to put these ideas to pen stemmed from his dyslexia. Reading and writing come hard, but not his imagination. What exactly stirred him to “get off his arse” and write is moot. Simon Wood showed he is not only a fighter, but a darn good writer! Drawing from life experiences, Simon utilizes life’s small occurrences and twists of fate to create a world of intrigue and murder.
His road started from scratch – learning rudimentary grammar and fiction structure. With the help of his amazing wife, (I really want to meet her) the two have worked out a system, which helps him put his ideas to paper and formulate a polished piece of fiction.
Do not think that for one minute Simon is a “sad shut-in” living in his secluded and secure little world – far from it. He is a man who tries everything (almost) at least once. In his own words, “I may use it in my writing some day”.
Simon truly loves to experience life, and I for one, am grateful he has chosen to share this joy through his writing.
Self-e-Publishing
Simon has experinece with ebook publishing [The Fall Guy]. When I asked him if he had any issues with formatting the book himself he replied,
“There wasn’t a lot of problems when it came to formatting the books to ebook format. For amazon, if you know Word and a little bit of HTML, you’re golden. For other formats, using smashwords made it easy. You format it in Word to their specs and their program converts into epub, pdf, etc… it’s all pretty painless.”
