Video 6 Modifying the Copyright, Acknowledgment & About the Author Pages…
In the previous Video 4 and Video 5, you split and renamed the individual XHTML pages. Now, you need to modify the pages that were included in the pre-made Formatting Template: Copyright page, Acknowledgment page and Author page.
NOTE: Information on this page is copyright yet may be shared in part for informational purposes so long as Unruly Guides is referenced. Please respect our DIY members.
Besides the basic copy, there are a lot of other details that are included in the video and tutorial book. Please review carefully and contact me should you have any problems.
In this section I talk a lot about the styles sheet. Our DIY Kit includes a pre-formatted styles.css file, so you don’t have to change anything in your epub; however, there may be adjustments you want to make to add your own flair and I have included those tips here as well as in the video, and Quick Guide Tutorial with the DIY Kit.
- Watch the Video (4:37 minutes)
- Open MyBook.epub file in Sigil
- Go to the page you want to modify and select the Split View.
- Modify the content in the WYSIWYG screen (top)
- Modify code in the code screen (bottom)
TIP: if you want to make the first paragraphs of each chapter NOT indented, then use our pre-made style.css class style of class=”noind”. Example: <p class=”noind”>
WARNING: If you changed the name of the headshot image, you need to change it in the code of the about.xhtml page. Just view the about.xhtml and modify the image link if necessary. Retain the ../Images/ before the graphic link.
TIP:Easily rename your headshot and cover images by right clicking and choosing rename. Retain the .jpg when renaming.
TIP: If your height and width for your new headshot is different, and it probably is, remove the height section, and keep width=“150”. The image will proportionally adjust on the e-reader.
TIP: You can rearrange the file order of pages by dragging the page to the new location.
