Susan Schreyer is a perfect example of why I enjoy interviewing authors. Besides having a great first name, Susan Schreyer is a wonderful writer. I am also continually amazed how freely authors share their writing “secrets” and how each interview offers more possibilities for new writers to improve their own writing skills.
I am a new fan of Schreyer’s work. “Death by a Dark Horse”, (an equine murder mystery set in Snohomish, Washington), is an wonderful work of fiction for a first time novelist. I was completely captivated by the story — and could not put it down. It has mystery, murder, and twists right up to the end of the book. I enjoyed the light, ‘cozy’ suspense (no gore) that unfolds and slowly builds momentum until the final scene– the light romance was enjoyable as well — ah to be young again.
Books two and three of the Thea Campbell Mystery series, “Levels of Deception” and “Error in Judgement”, already reside on my Kindle and await my reading pleasure. Plus, I am thrilled she has a fourth WIP.

Chat with an Equine Murder Mystery Author
I love getting to know new authors, especially whose work I enjoy. Susan Schreyer is no exception. She talks openly about how she just fell into writing, as a means to “fill her time.” Yet she is far from inactive.
Schreyer shares her insights into character building, and how her ‘beta’ editors helped her improve her writing into well-polished novels. I personally learned several new approaches I had never considered, and look forward to testing and incorporating the methods that fit my own writing personality.
