It’s November and that means NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). If you are like me, this free source (donations recommended) is a wonderful challenge to write a 50,000 word novel between November 1-30. I have written two YA novels through this event and plan to get a good chunk of my third done.
Smashwords, in the spirit of NaNoWriMo is also geared up to help you get those 50,000 words down. But…
My Thoughts / Your Thoughts?
Personally, I am a little leery putting my work out for others to read when it is a WIP. Even though Smashwords lets you “update” your book any time you want, I am just not comfortable in my rough draft to let anyone read it, let alone have them reading over my shoulder as I write it.
About the Promotion
Smashwords is opening up their platform to allow NaNoWriMo participants to “publish, share, track and promote their works-in-progress.” What this means is during the month you have people reading your WIP.
All Smashwords NaNoWriMo books receive promotion via:
- A special catalog hosted at Smashwords.com
- A special catalog in the native catalog of Stanza
- A special catalog in the native catalog Aldiko
- Promotion on the Smashwords blog, on Twitter, etc.
