Duplex printing isn’t new, but it is new to the Print on Demand Industry. Ingram Lighting Source has announced (May 27, 2015) the option for printing inside book covers.
Remember Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys books, where the inside spread (inside cover and first page) contained an illustration? What an impact your book could have when using this extra space:
- Treasure Maps
- Geographic locations
- Short Character bios
- Song lyrics
- and so much more…
What is Duplex Printing?
Duplex printing allows printing of a sheet of paper on both sides. Print devices without this capability can only print on a single side of paper, sometimes called single-sided printing or simplex printing.
In the case of a book cover, this allows you to design elements inside the front and back cover. This is particularly great for childrens book authors who want to add just a little extra, but stay within the Industry Standard of 32 pages.
I plan to incorporate this feature in my childrens book printed with IngramSpark. What about you?
