Video 8 Meta and TOC Editor…
These two very important items add functionality to your ebook. In SIGIL, the Meta Editor adds required information into the content.opf file (Open Packaging Format) such as the cover page, toc.ncx file, title of book, author, etc. The TOC Editor adds items to the toc.ncx file (Navigation Center eXtended) which is the logical table of contents for the ebook.

UPDATE: SIGIL 0.4.0 puts the TOC Editor to the right of the content screen. The button to create the TOC is located below the window. It works exactly the same. This new location is beneficial as you can see and test the links while you work.
This editor creates the toc.ncx file or the Logical Table of Contents, which is different than the Linkable Table of Contents we created earlier.
The NCX file (Navigation Center eXtended) describes the hierarchical Table of Contents (TOC) for your publication. It allows the Kindle user to ‘jump’ from chapter to chapter within the book without having to go to the table of contents – very convenient for How-to type books.
- Go to Tools > TOC Editor
This lists all the files that will be in your toc.ncx file. - Uncheck the “TOC Content Only” box at the bottom of the box if you want to add more items to the NCX file. If you uncheck that box, it will list all items that use heading tags.
